Wood planked revetments, Finland/Russia: Winter War/Eastern Front/Continuation War, 1940-1944. 1013mm(W) x 675mm(H) 40 inches x 26 inches(H)
Life during the war on the Eastern Front was primitive to say the least. Many roads were little more than dirt tracks, which, although fine for travel during the hot summer months, became nigh impassable during the spring and autumn periods known as the Rasputitsa, or more commonly to the Russians as General Mud. Prior to the harsh winter freezes, heavy rain would turn these roads into morasses of thick glutinous mud bogging down both vehicles and men, and this included tracked vehicles. The problem again manifested itself during the spring thaws, when melting snow and ice again made the roads insurmountable. Obviously, trees are plentiful in those areas of the world, and wood planking was commonly used by all sides during the war on the Eastern Front to provide, at least, some form of surface which would prevent aircraft from being bogged down. Quickly laid down, these revetments did not follow a standardised pattern, size, shape or design. Sometimes, they consisted of simple planked hard standings as in this set, or more elaborate affairs with earthen banks built around two or three sides to give some protection to the aircraft and maintenance personnel in the event of attack.
Applicable aircraft types for this set (due to size):
Also other types used by Axis Forces- Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia.

Either this kit is too big to be despatched by Royal Mail and can
only be despatched by the more expensive Parcelforce parcel rate.
Or this is a non-acrylic paint product and is now classed as
‘dangerous goods’ by our Royal Mail and they will not accept it.
Our Parcelforce will accept it and can deliver it to the UK and to
any EU countries that they transport to by surface. Parcelforce
rates are more expensive as they only handle heavy parcels not small
packets. All the available postage rates are shown. Please login and
add it to your cart. If you cannot add it to your cart that means we
